Seaside Elementary School represents at the Horry County Schools Technology Fair. 3-29-17

Wow, what a long day.  A long exciting, emotional day for this smart, hard working group of kids. I went to the Technology Fair as a parent and could not believe how many students were there from all over the Horry County. We started with Seaside’s eight man team solving 24 Rubik’s Cubes as fast as they could. This group of boys have been training hard and had a goal of finishing in under eight minutes.  It came down to the wire with just one cube left and the crowd was watching the clock and going crazy. As the last cube was solved and slammed down onto the table, the parents, staff and kids erupted in cheer with the clock at 7:56.       For the next three hours, the judges roamed around and took their time talking with the kids in each booth. 3D art, Mine Craft, programming, coding, robotics, Legos, photography…. So many categories, and so many amazing projects to choose from. I would hate to have been a judge. The Seaside kids had some great projects that we could tell the judges loved.  At the awards ceremony, Seaside came away with two big awards to make this group proud.  I’d like to, as just a parent, thank the teachers from Seaside that were involved for not only putting so much time into this but for inviting Kelsey and exposing her to a whole new world.  – Kip Beech
