I just got back from a three day trip to Aiken, South Carolina where I had the privilege of photographing this wonderful event put on by amazing volunteers for these incredible riders. The Aiken Horse Park is quite an impressive facility and was proud to host this weekend event. My friend, Nicole Smith, from the Great Oak Therapeutic Riding Center in Aiken played a huge role in pulling this off and I was so grateful that I was invited. Before I turned photography into my full time career, I spent the previous 16 years working with and/or volunteering with kids and adults with various disabilities. This weekend brought back all the memories of how smart, hard working, happy, and talented these folks are. I only cried four times, all happy tears.. two full days of team work, smiles, hugs, cheering, laughter, making new friends, encouraging others, hard work, concentration, volunteering.. and so much more. I will be sharing the link to all my photos so families can download these at full size. I took over one thousand images, but I wanted to share a handful of my favorites. If I missed any riders in this blog, don’t worry because I will have everyone in the downloadable gallery.
